About Me

Hi, I’m Michael Lacroix, the person behind Passion It Pictures and Film. I’m a 29-year-old Métis photographer and videographer, originally from Penetanguishene, Ontario. In 2021, I married my best friend, and together, we’ve started a family. This new chapter in life has deepened my appreciation for life’s fleeting moments and reinforced my passion for capturing memories through photography and video.

How It All Began

Photography has always been part of my life. I grew up carrying disposable cameras around, always eager to capture anything that caught my eye. Little did I know, that love for snapping pictures would evolve into something much more meaningful over time. In 2014, I picked up an old Sony camera as a hobby, and that’s when things really started to click. After upgrading to a DSLR, people started noticing my work, and before long, friends and family were asking me to take their photos.

I never imagined it would become a business, but when people started paying me for my work, it hit me—this hobby could turn into something bigger.

The Moment Everything Changed

The real turning point for me came when my cousin asked me to film her wedding. That was when I realized how much I loved capturing those big, emotional moments—moments that people will look back on for years. I knew I had found my true calling.

Not long after, I photographed another cousin’s wedding alongside a family friend who was the main photographer. That experience confirmed that this was what I was meant to do. It wasn’t just about taking pictures; it was about telling a story.

My Big Break

My real breakthrough came when I started working with Dorion Fitness. That opened the door to new opportunities, and one of the best came when Meghan and Darnelle reached out to hire me for their wedding. Ironically, Meghan’s stepmom had already contacted me before they even had the chance! That was a pivotal moment for me—everything started falling into place, and I realized that my dream of doing this full-time was a real possibility.
